The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a non-legally binding resolution adopted by consensus in 2015. It is a political vision containing 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 targets to be achieved by 2030. The 2030 Agenda is thoroughly incorporated in the United Nations system, and serves as an underlying goal for United Nations, Member States and Civil Society activities and efforts.

Annual resolutions on implementation:

Promoting sustainable consumption and production patterns for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, building on Agenda 21 (2020)

    • Resolution acknowledging the link between plastic waste and sustainable consumption and production patterns, and encourages further efforts at all levels to reduce, reuse and recycle plastics and to address through innovative approaches different types of plastic waste, including marine plastic litter. Adopted by vote with 178 in favour, 1 against.
