RESOLUTIONS

Global compact regarding migration and refugees

    • The New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants is a non-legally binding resolution adopted by consensus in 2016, setting the framework for negotiating global compacts on migration and refugees.
    • The following negotiations resulted in the outcome document “Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration”, which was adopted by world leaders in Marrakesh, Morocco, on 10 December 2018, and endorsed in a General Assembly resolution on 19 December, 2018, adopted by a recorded vote of 152 votes in favour to 5 against (Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Poland, United States), with 12 abstentions.
